Backgrounds

1991Graduated from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Faculty of Foreign Studies, English language department.
1991 – 1996Worked for a system integration services company, mainly engaged in planning and sales support at telecommunication/network-related departments. Also, occasionally conducted internal translation tasks regarding international contracting and trends in telecom businesses.
1996 – 2004Worked as an internal translator for a foreign-affiliated ERP vendor. Engaged in localizing of the software interface, online help, manuals, technical documents, implementation project materials, training materials, etc.
2004Became a freelance business translator.
Won first place in the Amelia Translation Triathlon 2004.
2011Join the JTF Style Guide Committee of Japan Translation Federation (JTF). Worked together with other members and advisors to produce “JTF Style Guide for Translators Working into Japanese”.
Had a session at 21st JTF Translation Festival Tokyo 2011, with other two members of the JTF Style Guide Committee, regarding style guides used in the translation industry.
2012Participated as a panelist on a panel that discussed quality control in translation, at IJET-23 in Hiroshima 2012, held by Japan Association of Translators (JAT).
2017Appointed as the vice-chairman of the JTF Translation Quality Committee.
2018Participated as a speaker at IJET-29 in Osaka 2018, held by JAT, conversing on the topic of Japanese styleguides for translation.
